As much as people would consider having a variety of stocks under their belt; that is not always viable. For the rookie investor, you should start with the industries that you know.

If you ask me about telecom companies, i think I can easily answer your question. Probably also know a few things about IT companies. But ask me about mining stocks, I can only give you names and numbers based on PSE. I got burned several times on (mining) stocks because I simply followed the trend.  The same thing happened when I tried investing on Property stocks.  I may be on a better footing now (crossing my fingers), but that is after I lost a lot of sleep and a lot of cash haha.. 


Build on your expertise. Build on what you know so you can have better judgment. Eventually, when you gain more experience you can widen your  portfolio.

As a reply to prince cruz, although theoretically, you follow accounting books and journals as published in PSE, this doesn't sit well in the Philippine setting =) Sadly, some books have been tampered to show income as desired (higher or lower than actual).  I know a few companies who do this; I've avoided them ever since.

(For me) Fundamentals do not only refer to the numbers, I also use it to refer to leadership, management and company direction.

The numbers will tell you one story; but there are other things that matter. And if you know the industry well, you'll be able to judge which has more weight.

The first thing you should always always remember when buying stocks is that you have to check the fundamentals. You are not betting here. Fluctuations of stock price do have a basis:

Primarily the impression of the investors based on company decisions as well as the current political and economic  climate.


Picking the right stocks with good fundamentals provides you with the a reasonable stability of stock prices. It also comes with enough opportunity to sell or buy (that will be a nightmare if you cannot sell your stocks)

So check out companies with the right fundamentals.  Do not be driven by high gains because sustainability of these gains will still be in question.  The moment the company makes a wrong move, you'll probably stuck with the loses.

Introduction

People download a lot these days. Some even leave their PC's overnight to download. They'll just wake up the next day and see if its done. Problem is some of these downloads need only additional 3-4 hours to finish as compared to their 8-10 hour sleep!!! Yup a total waste of energy.

Let me show you how we can lessen some of those wasted cash due to electricity bills. Windows has an auto shutdown feature except not everyone knows about it.

Caution

• Before attempting to do this pls make sure that you are not working on anything important as you might unexpectedly shutdown or restart your pc.

•  Also we are not hacking your pc (i.e. we won't destroy your machine in the process haha)

Let's get started..

Here we create a batch file to execute the commands. A batch  file is a regular (text) file with an extenstion ".bat"  instead ot ".txt" and contains typical DOS commands.

The shutdown.bat contains the 3600 argument indicating it will shutdown after an hour (3600 seconds). Edit this as you please.

The second file cancels the shutdown seconds.

People call these things imperfections, but they're not, aw that's the good stuff. And then we get to choose who we let into our weird little worlds. You're not perfect, sport. And let me save you the suspense. This girl you met, she isn't perfect either. But the question is: whether or not you're perfect for each other. That's the whole deal. That's what intimacy is all about. Now you can know everything in the world, sport, but the only way you're findin' out that one is by givin' it a shot.

I guess everyone now has his or her set of mp3 collection sitting on some deep dark corner of your desktop or laptops' hard drive.  And perhaps, you've tried to create a backup to immortalize a copy of these songs.

However, after a month or two, you start pondering whether you actually have a copy of song you've been craving to hear these past few days. it may seem like a daydream not knowing if you do have a copy of the song or not. Or maybe you are quite sure that you do have the song on that dvd, but to scan its (disorganized) content is probably too effortful to even try.

Here is a trick that you can do to make sure you know what is inside that backup disc!


NOTE: This is for computer rookies who are into these exploits.

1) Open the command prompt by going to [Start] --> [RUN] and type 'cmd'


2) Navigate to the folder containing your mp3. If you have subfolders, then go to the top.

3) Here is the 'ol  " dir " command which shows you are directory listing.
But we do not want just that. We want the whole listing of mp3's inside these folders.

4) The command " dir /w /s p " provides a listing of the files per directory.



5) Save this file to text using " dir /w /s  > myFileList.txt"

(Alternatively you may use just " dir /w" ) You now have a file listing of all your mp3's in that directory. Attach it to the DVD when you burn a copy.
